AND IT’S GOODBYE FROM ME

By the time you read the December edition of SMILE Magazine I will have worked my last day in the parish office and after thirteen years there are many people who I would like to acknowledge.

Firstly, I would like to thank our present priests; Father Joe, Monsignor Michael and Father Robert, plus acknowledge the other priests who have served here during the time I have worked in the office; Monsignor Frank Eggleton, Fathers Gerard Boyce, Yvan Sergy, Alex Kapiarumala, Darren McFarlane, Eamon Kennedy, Aidan Mulholland, Richard Laurenson and a special tribute to the late Father Pat Foy who first employed me.

I would like to thank the parish secretaries I have worked with; Pat McLean, Shelley Vincent and especially acknowledge the late Margaret Baird, who was my mentor as well as my friend. I would also like to thank Sue Hennessy, Mary Elmiger, Jude Clarke and Barbara Losalu for all their help and encouragement. I can honestly say that in the thirteen years I worked in the office I didn’t ever have a cross word with any of them.

A special thank you to the volunteers who do their duties during the week, some of whom have been on their particular roster for more years than I have been in the office; those who wash the church linen and the kitchen linen, the counters and the flower arrangers, who unseen by most parishioners quietly do their duties week in and week out.

Lastly, a huge thank you to all the parish groups and parishioners who have always been so nice to me and have always understood that when they came into the office, or phoned, with a query or problem, if I was unable to help them I would do my best to find someone who could.
