Welcome to our Parish of St Mary Immaculate, Tauranga.
We are located on Cameron Road, in between Elizabeth Street and First Avenue.
The church has enjoyed its city location for over 100 years, and it is one of the larger parishes in the Diocese of Hamilton. There are many groups and activities on offer within the parish that cater for our multi-cultural Catholic Community. This website provides details of some of these activities and other Catholic organisations. We hope this virtual introduction encourages you to visit us in reality, and to participate in our worship at Saint Mary Immaculate. |

Our Church turns 21 On 5th May 1991, Bishop Gaines consecrated the newly refurbished and enlarged Saint Mary Immaculate Church in Tauranga. The Church regards this anniversary as particularly significant for a parish community, ranks the day just below Easter and Christmas in significance, and says that a parish should observe it accordingly on its own local calendar.
The Mass for the Anniversary of the Dedication of a Church will be celebrated at 8am on Saturday, 5th May. There will be mention of the Anniversary in the intentions at Sunday Masses that weekend.
A photographic display of the refurbishing of the new church is being compiled for exhibition that weekend. Parishioners who have photos that they are willing to loan are invited to submit these through the Parish Office in time for the Parish Council Meeting on Tuesday 1st May at 7pm.

New to our Parish Family at Easter: • Alison Couch • Diane de Mel • Rowanne Peace
We welcome these three people into our Parish family, after they were formally received into the Church at the Easter Vigil ceremonies on Holy Saturday evening. They have been preparing since well before Christmas for this occasion, with regular weekly meetings. Indeed, perhaps their “remote” preparation goes back further, when they came into contact with Catholics and wondered about the possibility of belonging to the Catholic Church. |

This includes those whose death has recently occurred and those whose anniversaries have recurred. While every effort will be made to include the name, circumstances may dictate that the deceased’s name is mentioned at a date later than what was requested.
Parishioners are welcome to request that other intentions be included in the Universal Prayer, and even to suggest the wording of these petitions. The red covered missalette, distributed 16-18months ago when the new translation of the Mass responses was introduced, contains the outline of how these intentions are to be written.
